Hi! I’m Tanya Block Roussin, Certified Expert Virtual Assistant and Social Media Manager
Ever since I was a little girl, I knew I wanted to be a magic-making assistant. I watched movies like The President (Michael Douglas and Annette Benning), and told myself I wanted to be the woman managing that President. Instead of playing house or BarbieTM, I played office and school. In high school, instead of playing basketball, I was the manager that kept the stats during the game and made sure the players had everything they needed.
I received my first chance at being an assistant in high school for a major manufacturing company in Houston. I did so well my first year, that when I came back the second year, they placed me on the Executive’s floor working with members of the Board. It was exhilarating and boring at the same time. There wasn’t enough for me to do. I found that I needed something faster paced, work that was stressful and ever changing. I didn’t know it then, but I really wanted to be a Virtual Assistant.
Developing my love for Digital Marketing and Social Media
My career has included the titles of Executive Assistant, Marketing Assistant, Sales Assistant, Client Services Coordinator and Account Manager, just to name a few. I’ve worked in Oil & Gas, Tech, Infrastructure, and Logistics industries. My favorite positions included supporting more than 4 people at the same time and utilizing my skills to be incredibly organized and creative. Designing property flyers, email blasts and proposals were invigorating.
At the beginning of 2019, I invested in intensive training to become a Certified Virtual Assistant. The six-month program provided information and coaching on how to become an elite, Expert Virtual Assistant. I took the final step of the training in May, and became a Certified Expert Virtual Assistant, able to work with any small business or entrepreneur to help them build their business. My training and certification put me in the top 1% of all virtual assistants across the world.
While building my own business, I discovered that my career passion is working with small businesses, entrepreneurs and real estate professionals. I love creating social media posts, researching and implementing ways to generate new leads, designing property flyers, and developing deep, lasting partnerships with the people I work with. I enjoy taming the chaos for an overwhelmed business owner that isn’t tech savvy.
Some tidbits about my personal life
My husband and I live in Paonia, Colorado, a quaint, mountain town with a lot of natural beauty. We have amazing views of Lamborn and Lands End mountains. The area is covered in orchards that grow apricots, pears, plums, apples and peaches. Paonia began as a coal mining town, but as the mines shut down, the town looks to agriculture to stay economically stable. We are two hours south of Glenwood Springs, an hour and half southeast of Grand Junction, and about five hours southwest of Denver.
I am active in my community as the President of the Paonia Chamber of Commerce. When not in my office, or working for the Chamber, my husband and I visit our rustic cabin in the mountains near our home. The trip needs to be done with 4×4’s or all-terrain vehicles. Once there, we have a small solar panel for a bit of electricity. We bring our own water for washing, bathing and drinking. The cabin was built in the 1920s. I am amazed at the people that built it and lived there year-round.
Three fun facts about me that may surprise you:
- One of my hobbies is counted cross stitch. My most recent completed project took 3 years to complete, and is now hanging at my parent’s house.
- I am teaching myself to play the Mandolin.
- While at a comic convention in Dallas, I met some of the cast of The Princess Bride, as well as the original MacGyver.
